Calico Rock junior Scarlett Owens has been named the TeamFunded Player of the Week after she put on a huge performance at the Ozarks Classic Tournament.
The junior shortstop helped the Lady Pirates finish 2-1 in the tournament while individually go 7-for-10 at the plate with six runs scored, a double, plus batted a run in and swiped three bases.
Calico Rock fell 5-0 to eventual tournament champion Izard County in the opening round – a matchup in which Owens was the only one in the contest to record multiple hits, plus stole two bags – then the Lady Pirates defeated Yellville-Summit 6-3 before capping the weekend with a 4-1 triumph over Marshall. The Lady Pirates are currently ranked No. 6 in Class 1A in this week’s Fearless Friday Super 7 Softball rankings.
Additionally, Owens stays busy off of the field where she maintains a 3.94 GPA in the classroom. She is also the President of Calico Rock’s FFA, Vice President of FCCLA, plus a member of the Beta Club, Math and Science Club, Mu Alpha Theta, FCA, Book Club, Pirate Ministries and was recently named 1A-2 All-Conference in basketball for the 2024-25 season.
