SHERIDAN – Andy Brakebill confirmed via text message Tuesday morning that he is the new head coach for the Sheridan girls basketball team.
“When you can get the combination of a very high character and very respected and experienced coach, you are blessed,” Sheridan Athletic Director Rick Treadway said in a statement released by the school. “Coach Andy Brakebill will bring both to our Lady Jacket basketball program.”
After leading Haskell Harmony Grove’s boys squad for the past four seasons, Brakebill will coach girls for the first time in over a decade. He was an assistant at Rogers Heritage from 2009-11. The Hot Springs native led Harmony Grove to 3A state tournament appearances the past two seasons, while winning 50 combined games in that span. Brakebill has also had stints at Bryant (2006-2009), Bauxite (2013-2018) and Poyen (2018-2020). He was tabbed conference Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2024.
The Lady ‘Jackets are coming off of a 21-9 season and fell in the first round of the 5A state tournament to eventual champion Greenwood.
