Fort Smith Northside approved North Little Rock assistant Cody Wilmath as the program’s next boys basketball head coach in a meeting held Tuesday afternoon.
Wilmath is the Grizzlies’ third head coach in as many years following McKenzie Pierce’s return to Blytheville in late May. Northside went 10-21 in Pierce’s lone season.
Wilmath has been an assistant at North Little Rock for the past two seasons. He also served stints at Mountain Home and Ashdown.
Recent years have not been so kind to the Grizzlies, but Northside historically is one of the state’s most successful all-time basketball programs with 11 state championships.
