LITTLE ROCK – Hot Springs Lakeside capped a big week by winning the 2024 Shootout of the South at the Mighty Bluebird Complex, just four days removed from taking the Benton 7-on-7 Tournament.
The Rams routed Keller (Texas) 30-14 in the championship round, while Jonesboro won the consolation round 27-23 over Little Rock Catholic.
“I told the kids when we got here that if we win this it will be up to y’all, not us coaches,” Lakeside Coach Garren Rockwell said. “They won this. Hopefully in 11-on-11 the coaches will have more to do with it but these guys won this.”
Lakeside junior quarterback Wally Wolcott won the Top Gun Award for the tournament, while classmate and top target AJ Burns was named Outstanding Receiver. Keller’s Matthew Reagan was tabbed Outstanding Defensive Player.
