Former Carlisle girls basketball head coach Jonathan Buffalo has accepted the same position at Centerpoint. He had resigned from his coaching position with the Lady Bison earlier this year to take over as the Dean of Students.
“I want to let everyone know that I have resigned from my job for next year as the Dean of Students at Carlisle High School,” Buffalo said in a Facebook post. “An opportunity came up for my family. It was a great chance to get back to my wife’s family.”
He continued by expressing gratitude for his alma mater.
“This decision is bittersweet. It is an amazing opportunity, but I will miss this school district along with the amazing friendships that we have built here. Carlisle will always be home and hold a special place in the hearts of my entire family.”
Buffalo will take over for John Bright, who led the Lady Knights to the 2021 3A state championship game. Centerpoint won 22 contests this past season but failed to make the state tournament after falling by a point to Drew Central in the 3A-4 Regional Tournament.
A 2000 graduate of Carlisle, Buffalo has worked for the school in some capacity since 2008 when he started as an assistant with the varsity girls basketball team. He also served as head coach for both the junior high boys and girls for two seasons, then took over as varsity girls head coach prior to the 2011-12 school year.
Buffalo and the Lady Bison clinched the 2A-6’s No. 4 seed in the 2A-North Regional Tournament in February, but fell to Earle in the first round.
