Brad Chesshir named head football coach at alma mater Nashville

NASHVILLE – Brad Chesshir was a part of three Nashville state championship football teams, twice as a player in 2005 and 2006 then as an assistant in 2015. He is headed back to his alma mater after being approved by the school board as the program’s new head coach on Monday evening.

Just removed from a successful run at nearby Murfreesboro, the former Scrapper all-state performer is coming home to take over one of the state’s all-time great programs. Chesshir is the third head coach in the past year for a Nashville team that fired Mike Volarvich after winning more than three quarters of his games, then hired Shawn Jackson who led the Scrappers to a 6-5 record this fall before resigning on Nov. 18.

Chesshir compiled a record 23-11 with Murfreesboro over the past three seasons, including back-to-back 2A-3 conference championship finishes the last two years while posting a 13-1 record in league play during that span. Along with coaching the Rattlers, Chesshir has also had previous stints at Jonesboro and De Queen.
