Shawn Jackson out at Nashville

The Nashville Scrappers are now on the hunt for their third football coach in 11 months.

The Nashville School District confirmed on Monday that Shawn Jackson has resigned from the program after one season, but will remain with the school. The Scrappers fell to Pocahontas at home in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to finish the season 6-5.

“The Nashville School District has received a letter of resignation from Coach Shawn Jackson, who will step down as head football coach of Nashville High School,” the district said in a press release published by the Nashville News-Leader. “Coach Jackson will remain with the district in a different capacity for the duration of his contract.

“We respect Coach Jackson’s decision, and we wish him all the best in his future endeavors. The district is committed to ensuring a seamless transition and will work closely with the coaching staff to maintain the momentum and success of the Scrapper football program. A search for a new head coach will begin immediately.”

Jackson was hired in December of 2023 from Hayti (Mo.) and also served as head coach at Crossett from 2020-21, where he compiled a 15-6 record while leading the Eagles to back-to-back 4A quarterfinal finishes.
