FAYETTEVILLE – Hall of Fame Coach David Ferrell announced he was stepping away from his role as athletic director and boys basketball coach at The New School in April. It was announced on Monday that the program hired from within and promoted Ferrell’s assistant, DaShaun Stark, for both positions.
“My family and I are super excited about the opportunity to remain a part of The New School community after a fun and memorable first year,” Stark said in a press release from the school. “The future of TNS Athletics is where I will wholeheartedly invest my time and efforts into creating a new standard of excellence. Go Cougars!”
Head of School Nancy Lang also gave her approval of Stark in the release.
“During his time at The New School, DaShaun has proven himself as a man of integrity, who embraces the mission and values of The New School,” Lang said.
Stark assisted in helping a new-look Cougars squad that replaced all five starters to a 37-5 record this past season, including a perfect 17-0 in 1A-1W play, and semifinal finish in the Class 1A state tournament.
